  • Involve your child with lunch selections by selecting a picture from Lunchbox100
  • Ask your child what their friends eat from their lunchbox
  • Freeze drink bottles to keep food cool
  • Use mini ice packs to keep lunchboxes cool
  • Prepare sandwiches the night before and freeze
  • Do not freeze sandwiches containing foods high in water eg: vegetable

  • When making sandwich rollups use a rolling pin to flatten bread and cream cheese to make them stick

  • Cook extra food in the evening and use leftovers in the lunchbox
  • Include non-edible surprises in lunchboxes like a joke, note or canteen money
  • Wrap 'surprise' canteen money in plastic so it does not touch the food
  • Use straws to make fruit skewers
  • Add plastic utensils that aren’t sharp
  • Wrap items in individual zip-seal bags to keep them fresh
  • Cut up vegetables and wrap them in a damp kitchen paper so they don’t dry out
  • Include a napkin for wiping hands
